How to cancel Google Play subscriptions
App subscriptions you pay for through Google Play are canceled in the Play Store, not by deleting the app.
Menu pathGoogle Play app > Subscriptions > [the subscription] > Cancel subscription
Steps
- Make sure you are signed in to the Google Account that has the subscription.
- On your Android device, open the Google Play Store and go to Subscriptions.
- Select the subscription you want to cancel.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the instructions.
Refunds, timing and things to know
- Uninstalling the app does not cancel your subscription.
- After you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. Google's example: cancel a yearly plan in July and you keep it until December 31, with no new charge on January 1.
- Google may place a hold on your payment method up to 48 hours before a renewal.
- An unused prepaid plan can be canceled and you can ask for a refund. Past subscription charges generally cannot be refunded, with some exceptions in Google Play's refund policies.
- Some apps let you pause instead (from one week up to three months).
If someone else bills you
- Can't find it? It may be on another Google Account. Switch accounts in the Play Store and check again.
Save proof. Take a screenshot of the confirmation screen and keep the confirmation email. If you are charged again after canceling, our billing error letter can help.
